Fallen Trees Evacuation on Jalan Otista Raya Targeted to Be Completed in Four Days

We predict to finish it within four days ahead. Hopefully, weather supports us

The evacuation process for two fallen banyan trees on Jalan Otista Raya, Bidaracina, Jatinegara, East Jakarta is targeted to be completed in the next four days.

Until Thursday (11/11), dozens of Task Force personnel from East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency are still focusing on evacuating trees that hit poles, electric cables and pedestrian bridges (JPO).

Traffic on Jalan Otista Raya Diverted to Transjakarta Route

Green Belt and Funeral Division Head, Atang Setiawan said, it involved around 21 personnel who divided into three teams and are currently still focusing on handling tree trunks with one meter diameter. Unfortunately, the five-meter diameter tree that hit the security post at the BRI office had not yet been handled.

"To maximize it, we have sent three dump trucks to the location," he stated, Thursday (11/11).

Actually, he explained, the evacuation went smoothly considering the electricity had been turned off. But because of large tree and shady, it took a long time.

"We predict to finish it within four days ahead. Hopefully, weather supports us," he said.

Thus far, his party has yet to calculate how many cubic tree trunks have been evacuated from the scene, as the handling is still ongoing.

"Last Wednesday afternoon, eight trucks of tree carcasses have been evacuated," he stated.

As for the information, two banyan trees fell on Tuesday (11/9) at around 9:15 AM when heavy rain and strong winds hit the capital. They hit 17 motorcycles, a sedan, a Transjakarta bus stop, a pedestrian bridge (JPO), BRI security posts, as well as electric poles and cables.
